About

Molly Aphra Taylor is an artist at Goldsmiths, University of London interested in sound, memory, and conversation. Working with vocal frequencies, sound archives, and sculpture, they create a language that everyone can understand – a representation of the incessant churning, vibrations, and mixing of thought.

While at art school Taylor has also created work with homemade inks made from natural materials (scraps from cooking and found objects). These works make up their ‘Overflow‘ series, a collection of work exploring grief, loss, excess, and catharsis. Their text work examines the list as a vessel for information.

Recent exhibitions they have been featured in include: ‘Girl Next Door’ and ‘Light’ at The Amersham Arms (2023), ‘Headgear’ by Baby Teeth in St James’ Annex Goldsmiths (2023), Divine Schism presents Pregnant, The Bobo, Haus of Aphrah, and Fluid Tower at Signature Brew (2024).

Outside of their art practice they make music under the name ‘Aphra Taylor‘ and have played shows with Peter Doherty (The Libertines), Andy Bell (Ride, GLOK), and Richard Walters. As well as festivals: Truck Festival (2022), Are You Listening? (2022), and Beam Me Up (2023).
